We're going for
that smoky look. But nothing overdone or too dark. A black liner is fabulous,
BUT you've got to BLEND! So, go ahead and try it, but be sure to blend,
blend, blend. Beginning at the outer edge, line your eyes 3/4 of the way
in at the base of the lashes on both the top and bottom. Using a thin,
flat-tipped brush, blend the pencil and then apply the same smoky-brown
eyeshadow on top of the blended pencil on the outer corners of the eye.
To intensify the look even a bit more, you can also line the inside rim
of the eye with the black pencil. This isn't always right for everyone.
But, when it works, it's drama !
MASCARA
Yes, it's time for that fabulous looking instrument known as the eyelash
curler! It always reminds me of 7th grade (am I dating myself -or did
everyone use it when they were in 7th grade?). Just open the curler, place
your top lashes onto the base (where the rubber pad is), and close. Now,
stay very still. No sneezing, or jerky movements….phew! Done! Fabulous.
Don't forget the other eye! Now, you can apply your mascara (I use black).
Press the lashes back towards the face with the mascara wand, reinforcing
what the eyelash curler did. Once the mascara is almost dry, go through
with an eyelash comb to get all those clumpy clumps.
EYEBROWS Eyebrows are so important. It's the kind of thing
that can really change the expression of a face! Plucking and shaping
may be necessary, or sometimes, like with April, all that they may need
is to be filled in a smidge. Here, I use brow powder in a soft black shade.
Going against the growth direction of the eyebrow hair, I use an eyebrow
brush and just fill in the spots a little. I also use a brow fixative
(like clear mascara), to set brows in place.
